If this did occur, so sorry, it does happen and its painful for both the customer and the artist. According to many insurance websites, 60% of art damage occurs in transit. At the time of writing this, I have shipped out almost 200 paintings to date and 5 have been damaged. Most costs have been recouped with insurance, but there are guidelines to follow for insurance to cover.
- Always reach out to me immediately with pictures:
- of the outside of the package,
- inside of the package,
- close up pictures of the damage,
- and a picture of the painting as a whole.
- I will take pictures of it and the packaging before it ships.
- NEVER throw out the painting until the results of the claim are determined. One time a customer did throw it out, and they denied the claim. This is so important!
- I will file a claim with the insurance.
- You will receive a link or call from them to confirm the damage from your side.
- You may be refunded immediately from me, or we will await the results of the claim before issuing a refund. It all depends on how the damage occurred.
- Reach out with any questions not covered here.
